Sammy
My youngest son, Sammy, was diagnosed with Autism earlier this year. As you can see, he is all smiles. He is a fun-loving toddler who enjoys playing with trains and cars. He also likes to draw and dig in the dirt. Due to the nature of his disability, he does not speak and we don’t know if he ever will. This is a reality that we might have to face.
His father and I both work full time and being with him is both valuable and trying at the same time, as we rarely get a break. We are hopeful that he will lead a productive and fulfilled life. We have dreams for him as I’m sure he’ll have for himself when he gets older. I see his potential everyday. Sometimes I see an engineer, sometimes a car mechanic. Other members of my family see him as an architect.
It would be awesome to see him contributing to society as one of these professionals. He wants to help. But he can’t do it alone. Please end the wait. Make sure that Sammy and other individuals like him reach their potential by receiving the appropriate support they need. And enable them to see their dreams of living lives they want to live come true.
