Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA)

DDA is the agency within state government that makes decisions about people’s eligibility for services and supports, determines who will receive services and funds services, most of which are provided through licensed community agencies. The website has information about DDA, how to apply for services, service provider information and much more information.


Department of Disabilities (DOD)

DOD is a state agency whose stated mission is to advance the rights and interests of people with disabilities. This link will take you to a list of statewide resources.


Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council

The DD Council is a public policy organization that advocates for the inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life. The Council educates and informs policymakers about issues of importance to people with developmental disabilities and their families; Advocates for services, policies and practices that support people with developmental disabilities to exercise self-determination and lead productive, fulfilling lives; and Designs and funds innovative projects that promote community inclusion and improve services and supports.


The Arc of Maryland

The Arc of Maryland is a statewide advocacy organization whose mission is "To create a world where children and adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities have and enjoy equal rights and opportunities." It is part of a national organization with local chapters throughout Maryland. The Arc of Maryland engages in public policy and legislative advocacy, systems change, self advocacy and family leadership programs. Local Chapters provide an array of services for people of all ages and their families.


People On the Go of Maryland

People On the Go of Maryland is a statewide group of self-advocates who believe all people with challenges should be included in school, work, and independent living. POG’s 60 active members come from 13 local self-advocacy groups around the state. Individual membership is free and open to anyone with a disability. Meetings are held four times a year in different meeting sites to discuss current issues and work on increasing employment opportunities, improving transportation, eliminating discrimination against people with disabilities, training direct care staff, and protecting the rights of people with disabilities.


Cross Disability Rights Coalition

CDRC is a disability rights coalition comprised of people with all types of disabilities working together to change state policy.


Maryland Association of Community Services (MACS)

MACS is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening agencies to better support people with developmental disabilities and their families in their own communities. This is accomplished through advocacy that promotes the highest standards of program excellence; fosters a climate that develops and nurtures a quality workforce; and results in an increased capacity within Maryland communities to support people in inclusive settings.


Maryland Disability Law Center

MDLC is a private, non-profit organization staffed by attorneys and paralegals. MDLC’s mission is to ensure that people with disabilities are accorded the full rights and entitlements afforded to them by state and federal law. MDLC services include: Information and Referrals about many different legal topics; Technical Assistance to other attorneys who help persons with disabilities; Investigations of complaints that persons with disabilities are abused, neglected, or mistreated; Case Advocacy for persons with disabilities to obtain certain services; Legal Representation; and Public Education and Training.

Parents' Place of Maryland

The Parents' Place of Maryland is a non-profit family-centered organization whose purpose is to enhance the lives of persons with disabilities. PPMD serves the parents of children with disabilities throughout Maryland, regardless of the nature of their child's disability or the age of their child. Their focus is helping children to participate as fully as possible in home, school, and community life. Services include: Education; Information & Referral; and Technical Assistance.
