Even with the threat of snow, nearly 350 people participated in Developmental Disabilities Day at the Legislature on February 25, 2010. People with disabilities, family members, service providers, and advocates were joined by legislators and state officials. The day began with briefings on key legislation aimed at increasing funding for developmental disability community services and other important issues. Legislators who are championing waiting list legislation charged up the crowd by calling for swift passage of their bills. The event ended with a long loud procession to the House and Senate with marchers chanting and carrying signs like “End the Wait Now!” 

The press covered the event and stories were featured in newspapers, on the web and on TV news shows.  Following the procession, DD Day participants met with their legislators to advocate for needed legislation and funding increases.
