Over 19,000 Marylanders Wait for Services!

Over the summer, we're planning new Campaign activities to pump up our education and advocacy efforts.  To learn more or to Get Involved, email us at coordinator@endthewaitnow.com

What people stuck on the Waiting List, their families and friends have said:

His potential is being wasted.

Thousands of people are struggling daily.

Caretakers suffer for years in crisis, waiting for funding.

His social skills are gradually deteriorating.

Listed and forgotten

The father could not work all the time.

…sold almost everything we owned to be able to pay for needed services.

Abandoned citizens.

…in a perpetual holding pattern.

…parents never have an opportunity to be alone or go anywhere.

This family is at the crisis point.

Imagine how unnerving it must be to be on the DDA Waiting List for over 10 years.

…isolated from the rest of the community.

… living in a state of crisis.

She has cared for her sister for thirty five years.

… an urgent issue that is all consuming: physically, emotionally and financially.

Be open to this crisis. It will only get progressively worse if you do nothing.

…a lifetime of caring… becomes more difficult as the family ages.

Her mother is not able to work at all.

Maryland’s Hopeless List

Our only wish is to die knowing that our children are in a safe and comfortable living situation. Isn’t that what every parent wants for their children?

Thousands of families have waited long enough.

… locked into the role of an indefinite caregiver.

Families in dire need of help.

Our family will never be able to live a normal life

Out of sight, on a list!

These are real people who are desperate for help.

She perseveres, barely.

We call on Governor O'Malley and the legislature to consider these citizens' critical needs and provide funding for DDA Community Services.
